Dino Ciccarelli became the first player in Minnesota North Stars history to reach the 50 goal plateau when he scored 55 in 1981-82. He reached the milestone again in 1986-87, scoring 52 for the North Stars. Dino finished his NHL career with 608 regular season goals, good for 20th all-time, two behind Bobby Hull.
Brian Bellows is the only other player from the franchise’s time as the Minnesota North Stars to score 50 or more. Bellows had 55 in 1989-90, equaling Ciccarelli’s team record. As the Dallas Stars, just Mike Modano had reached the milestone, scoring exactly 50 in 1993-94.
As for Bill Goldsworthy, he came close with 48 in 1973-74, good enough for 5th in the NHL that year. Dennis Maruk did surpass the plateau but not with the North Stars. Maruk scored 50 with the Washington Capitals in 1980-81 and followed that up with 60 goals the following season. Dennis was the first in the team’s history to reach 50 and 60.
Between 1980-81 and 1998-99, Dino Ciccarelli played 1,232 regular season and 141 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the North Stars, Capitals, Detroit Red Wings, Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers.
